Helicopter Turns
Helicopter Turns - Clockwise 3 Versions
SKILL VALUE
The helicopter turn is a precise propulsion technique that will allow you to rotate in place horizontally without moving forward or backward. This is particularly useful in confined spaces, such as wrecks or caves, where changing direction without altering position is essential for safety and control.
Usefull at:
Navigating tight spaces in wrecks and caves without moving forward.
Adjusting direction in confined environments while maintaining position.
Avoiding obstacles or debris without disturbing the surroundings.
Situational awareness when surveying in all directions without forward movement.
Learn How to
Master fine scissor-like leg movements to rotate without forward propulsion.
Practice maintaining neutral buoyancy to stay level during the turn.
Use small ankle and fin movements for controlled, subtle turns.
Practice in open water before applying it in confined spaces.

You may ask yourself, "Why should I learn all 3 versions?"
Depending on which fin you are using you are pushing the water either upwards or downwards. If the floor for example is silty, then use the inside fin and push the water upwards. If there is silt on the ceiling, then you may use the outside fin and push the water downwards.
